Petter Southall’s hand-made furniture is made with a Scandianavian sense of design and understanding of wood coupled with exceptional craftsmanship. He works in solid oak and other hardwoods steambent into lyrical curves and arches. He set up his i tre workshop (Norwegian for in wood) at Chilcombe, near Bridport, West Dorset in 1991.  His showroom is at Sladers Yard, Contemporary British Art, Furniture & Craft Gallery, West Bay, Dorset.

Petter’s latest creation is a sand-dune inspired steam-bent pavilion for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019. Commissioned by garden designer Thomas Hoblyn for the Majlis desert garden, the story of making the pavilion is told in Petter’s blog and on Instagram @pettersouthall and in the short film below by Angus Piggott.
